| As a member of the Society you will be invited to attend an annual re-enactment of a select landmark case in the Court’s history. The next program in this series will take place on November 9, 2011. Justice Antonin Scalia will preside over the reenactment of Texas v. White, an 1869 Supreme Court case that dealt with a claim by the Reconstruction government of Texas involving bonds owned by the state since 1850 that were illegally sold by the Confederate state legislature during the Civil War. This series is named in honor of Society President Emeritus, Frank C. Jones, whose service to the Society extends for decades, and the Jones Reenactments are partially subsidized by an endowment created in his honor. |
