C-SPAN Schedule
A session from the recent Supreme Court Summer Institute for Teachers will be
broadcast on
Saturday, July 7, at 7 PM on C-SPAN's "America and the Courts" series.
The Summer Institute
brings middle and high school teachers from across the nation to Washington for
an intensive
orientation to the Court's history and procedures. The Summer Institute is a
joint project of the
Supreme Court Historical Society and Street Law, Inc.
Aaron Epstein, who covered the Supreme Court for the Knight-Ridder newspapers
until his retirement, moderates the panel which was taped on June 22, 2001. C-SPAN's
web site does not identify the actual speakers. They are Clint Bolick of the
Institute for Justice, Nan Aron of the Alliance for Justice, and Victoria
Bassetti, Democratic Chief Counsel to the Antitrust, Business Rights and
Competition Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.
After the panelists answered questions from the moderator (and each other), the
floor was opened
to the teachers who asked several interesting questions.
