Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Supreme Court Historical Society. Established in 1974 we have aspired to provide educational programs and scholarly resources to our members and teachers. As a Society member you'll receive:

  • Three issues each year of the highly acclaimed Journal of Supreme Court History. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., has remarked that the Journal is the only law-related periodical he reads cover-to-cover during the Supreme Court Term.

  • Four issues each year of the Quarterly—the informative newsletter, that keeps Society members up to date on new programs and other Society endeavors and includes articles and a quiz.

  • Invitations to the all of the Society's educational programs, as well as to the elegant black tie Annual Reception and Dinner that coincides with the Society's Annual Membership Meeting.

Your membership contribution will also help the Society collect and preserve the history of the Supreme Court, and improve public understanding of the Court and the Constitution. This year alone, the Society will sponsor:

  • ŸTwo sessions of its Summer Institute for Teachers, bringing 60 high-school teachers from across the country to Washington to study the Court first-hand.
  • ŸFive historical lectures at the Supreme Court as part of the Leon Silverman Lecture Series.
  • ŸA historical re-argument of Texas v. White, presided over by a member of the current Court as part of the Frank C. Jones Supreme Court Reenactment Lecture Series.
  • ŸAnd much, much more (see the Society's website for more information).

You can help, and become a part of the Supreme Court community by joining the Society now. Click here to join online through our giftshop, or by completing and printing this membership application (click here for a PDF) and mailing it to:

Members who join at the Contributing Level also receive a tangible memento of the Court's history, a cube of marble taken from the Court during renovations. Affixed with the Seal of the Supreme Court of the United States, this unique and limited offering immortalizes your contribution and acts as a reminder that the Society’s foundation is our membership.
